Linear Dichroism
Linear Dichroism Dioptica Measurement Couette
Developed at Warwick University and then manufactured by Dioptica, this new range of Linear Dichroism accessories is aimed directly at the measurement of aligned macromolecules by using Linear Dichroism spectroscopy.
The Linear Dichroism measurement is made in a stirred couette. The stirring action aligns long linear molecules to enhance the Linear Dichroism signal. For the first time a commercially made accessory gives the confidence to measure dynamic alignment of protein or DNA in a temperature thermostatted system.
The Dioptica system is available in two versions
- High alignment which requires around 200uL of sample
- Ultra Low volume which uses less than 50uL of sample
Applications in Linear Dichroism

- Membrane Protein Structure
- Protein Fibre Structure
- DNA and DNA Binding Molecules
- Polymer Structure
